If you find yourself in Surrey make sure you visit the Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden, you won’t regret it. That’s as long as you like magical places and great works of art.
It is one of our favourite places, and after a shakey start of power cuts at home and torrential rain we arrived at the garden in brilliant sunshine. A special day away from work for both of us.
We had the entire garden to ourselves, you can’t get better than that apart from living there, which we would both love to do.
Hannah selects the sculptures herself, her husband Antony Paul has been a landscape designer for over 30 years.
The result is spectacular if you like structural plants and a sense of the rainforest.
If you are like me and don’t like anything too manicured, and definitely don’t own a power washer to get rid of moss, this garden is for you.
In the words of Antony Paul, ‘ Don’t come if you want to see conifers and pretty flowery borders you will be disappointed.’
There is a beautiful reception area, an office that I would kill for, plus a stunning house in amongst the trees and plants that I could happily live in, moss and all.
Spheres seem to play a big part on this visit, I love the colour and texture in all of them.
This industrial looking one being my particular favourite,
Bodies in sculpture fascinate me, they have such beautiful shape to them.
The shapes of backs and bottoms do it for me, don’t know why they just do.
The leaf man can sit in my garden whenever he likes.
Heads and faces are another personal favourite.
This head is truly amazing, I would love to buy it, it is my all time favourite that I have admired for many years.
The garden was definitely showing signs of Autumn in places, my favourite season.
No power washers here I’m pleased to say, as you can tell from my favourite type of path.
It had rained all morning before we arrived so there was plenty of this type of picture to be had.
Massive mushrooms were found on trees, this one resembled coco powder.
A few animals dotted around the garden.
Fantatsic colour and texture that I could look at all day.
Our favourite part of the garden is this swamp like place, sensors start off music as you arrive, I think this must be like heaven. Couldn’t think of anything better than coming home and sitting here for a while, just amazing. You would have to experience it to see what I mean, the photograph doesn’t really do it justice.
My husband thinks it would be a great place for yoga and meditation.
So there you have it, I don’t apologise for the amount of pictures, we do have 100′s more.
You may notice some of the pictures lately are embossed with my husbands name, he has been reading a great book called ‘Beyond Auto mode’ by Jennifer Bebb.
His photography skills have been very much enhanced , I am more of a press all the buttons and see what happens kind of person. However on closer inspection of Ray’s photographs I now have my head firmly stuck in the book, I don’t want to get left behind and feel despondent.
In fairness he has been telling me to read the book for some time, I catch on eventually!
